Hi, were Chuck
and Sue. Welcome to our world!
We're in our fifties,
love old cars, old music, fifties diners, going to car shows and events and
working on our old cars.
We also love the earlier decades which preceded the
fifties, as you'll see.
We have found a
way to relive our past, and those great years before we were born. How, by
bringing you (OK, and us too) a great group of nostalgia sites. Namely, The
Past Is A Blast, Where Yesterdays Live and Matching Numbers USA.
Whether you like cars, vintage travel, learning how
things were done back in the day, or just like to add some nostalgia to
your daily life, we've got you covered.
If you stick
around here with us, you'll learn that we are not
always politically correct and tend to be very opinionated about many things. We
dont pull any punches, what you see with us is what you get.
We can be very
old fashioned in some things and set in our ways on many others. There are
times when we say to each other we wish we had a time machine, as society
and the country today arent the America we grew up in.
While we know
we can't really go back, we can certainly enjoy reliving those times and the
memories they conjure up. Our goal is to help all of us recapture some of
that which has been lost. We hope you join us in this fun trip.
We're Car People, Just Like You
Now the most important part about who we are and why
we can help you with your quest to build the best car you can.
I've (Chuck) been around cars since I was small. My
Grandfather owned his own garage, back in the day when a garage actually did
work on a car. So I was introduced to cars early on. In my teen years, back
in the mid 60s, I built and drag raced in three different classes, and
captured the class record in two of them on both one eighth and quarter mile
tracks.
Sue has been interested in cars since she was a girl.
Her Dad worked for Rolls Royce in New York and she has never been afraid to
get grease on her hands. ( My kind of woman.)
Since Sue and I have been married (30 years now),
together we've been involved in the some pure restorations and a number of
modified projects. You can see some of them in the Showcase section of the
site.
And we've got to be honest, our bent is for the
modified cars. We love to get out and drive them, race them, etc. While we
can appreciate a finely restored car, we much prefer to get down and dirty
with our cars.
We loved cars and the restorer/modified hobby for as
long as we can remember, which is why we started the original Matching
Numbers years ago. It really hurt when we had to phase out the business back
then. However, back in those days you needed to be able to get to shows to
promote the business and at that time with the family illness, this proved
impossible. We no longer felt we could do a good job for our customers, so
we matched all we could and refunded the rest when we had to shut down.
Now with both the ability to attend shows, events and
rallies, and with the power of the internet, we can bring back Matching
Numbers USA even better then it was.
We look forward to being part of your building
process. Feel free to contact us anytime. We love to talk cars.
If you have any questions, feel free to call or
e-mail us.
